Webby Award 2005 - People's Voice Winner
SpiritualityHealth.com Wins People's Voice Award
This website has been named the Best Religion and Spirituality Website in the 2005 People's Voice Awards of the Ninth Annual Webby Awards.
Established in 1996, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence in Web design, creativity, usability, and functionality. The Ninth Annual Webby Awards received over 4,300 entries from all 50 states and over 40 countries worldwide. The People's Voice Awards are chosen by the public in 63 categories; this year more than 200,000 online visitors cast ballots for their personal favorites among the nominees in each category. This honor indicates the highest level of loyalty and commitment from a site's visitor base.
Hailed as the "Online Oscars" by Time Magazine, The Webby Awards are determined by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global membership organization. "The People's Voice Awards winners provide both a remarkable snapshot of digital life today and a powerful sneak preview of where we are going next," said Tiffany Shlain, creative director and founder of The Webby Awards. "We're proud to shine a spotlight on outstanding sites like Spirituality & Health."
Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat, Web Editors, noted: "The Internet has given Spirituality & Health magazine a wonderful way to deepen our connection with our readers by providing access to the archives of articles published in the magazine's eight-year history, as well as original content on spiritual practices for human being — 37 essential practices of the spiritual life. The Internet's immediacy enables us to post up-to-the minute coverage of new resources for people on spiritual journeys through our ever-expanding database of 7000 book and movie reviews. We're delighted that this honor confirms our connection to our visitors."
